Peyton Hillis Injury: Updates on Browns Star's Week 11 Status and Fantasy Value

Donald WoodNov 14, 2011

For Cleveland Browns fans and fantasy football owners of running back Peyton Hillis, it has been a very disappointing season.

After a year that was good enough to warrant his placement on the cover of Madden 12, the curse struck again and has ruined the powerful back’s season.

As expected, Peyton Hillis will miss this Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a seriously hurt hamstring.

"

Coach Pat Shurmur said Monday that Hillis' injury is improving but he will be sidelined again this week when the Browns (3-6) host Jacksonville. Shurmur believes Hillis will be able to come back at some point this season, and there are no current plans to place him on injured reserve.

"

This only confirms all of the things we have said about dropping the star and this should man he is on waivers before the end of the day in your fantasy league.

For those wondering how close Peyton Hillis is to returning to action as the starting running back for the Browns, don’t hold your breath.

Cleveland Browns Plain Dealer beat writer Mary Kay Cabot is reporting on Twitter:

For fantasy owners, if for some reason you still have Peyton Hillis on your bench, it’s time to trade him for anything you can get or hit the waiver wire for some scraps left over from the other teams.

Fantasy Impact

Peyton Hillis had an amazing game or two earlier in the season, but he is still in a lot of pain, and the fact that his injury has only gotten worse means it’s time to cut bait with the high fantasy draft pick.

Who's the Backup?

He shouldn’t be started in anything but deep fantasy leagues where you need serious help at running back, but Chris Ogbonnaya is the starter while No. 1 RB Peyton Hillis and No. 2 RB Montario Hardesty are recovering from their injuries.

Devastation Scale (3 out of 10)

For the Cleveland Browns, they have been dealing with his distractions all offseason, so whether he is on the field or not doesn’t really matter anymore to the team. When he becomes a free agent this offseason, the Browns will not be bidding on Hillis in the open market.
