Alabama Football: Latest BCS Poll out and Why Alabama Fans Are Pulling for OU

Larry BurtonNov 13, 2011

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) With the latest BCS ratings out, only the teams after the top three changed. Stanford's loss keeps them from BCS Championship consideration now and drops them to number nine.

Oregon's victory over the Ducks propelled them to the spot behind Alabama, but they are 344 points behind Alabama in the overall average and it is now seemingly very unlikely that they could jump the Crimson Tide for that valuable third spot with their remaining games against unranked California and Notre Dame.

Combine this with who each team lost to and by the margin of victory, Alabama's win over now 24th place Auburn would give them more points over higher ranked opponents and cement that spot over Oregon.

An interesting consideration is high Oklahoma would move if they beat No. 2 Oklahoma State.

But since they are 699 points back and not even a big win against the Cowboys could propel them that high if Alabama win out.

And like Oregon, you would have to consider who they lost to and by what margin. Since the Sooners lost an embarrassing game to an unranked five loss Texas Tech, voters would have a very hard time moving them ahead of a team who lost to the No. 1 team by just three points in overtime.

And since it's totally without reason to think that anyone else could could jump Alabama, Alabama fans are now running to jump on the Oklahoma Sooner bandwagon and pray for an upset of the Cowboys from Oklahoma State by the Sooners.

Here is the latest BCS rankings.
