BCS Rankings 2011: Boise State and More Teams That Don't Deserve Rankings
There is more than one team in the latest release of the 2011 BCS rankings that is highly overrated, but the Boise State Broncos took the cake.
I know they just went from No. 5 last week to No. 10 this week, but if I had my way they wouldn't even be in the latest rankings. That's how overrated they are.
Such is life though, especially when talking about the BCS. Here are the most overrated teams of the latest rankings:
No. 10 Boise State
Boise lost to an unranked TCU team with the miss of a last-second field goal by their freshman kicker. While many don't see that as a huge sin, I think it's imperative that we hold Boise State to the standard they've been asking for.
Despite strength of schedule, Broncos fans have been begging to be judged by their undefeated record, and that was their claim to national championship contention.
Looking at the other top-tier one-loss teams, they didn't lose to unranked opponents.
If Boise State wants to live by their record, they have to die by it as well.
Right now their record says they lost to an unranked opponent, so No. 10 is a rather generous gift.
No. 14 Kansas State
The Wildcats may be 8-2, but both of their losses have come in-conference. Not only that, but it took them four overtimes to barely squeak by a horribly flawed Texas A&M team, so that win doesn't hold much weight in my opinion
Don't get me wrong, this is a good team, but they wouldn't be able to beat some of the Big Ten teams ranked behind them.
No. 18 Michigan
Michigan is now the 18th-best team in the nation, so if that helps you put it perspective look at it that way. However, they've played a ton of average teams that have made them look a lot better than they really are.
Why do you think there is such a difference between Michigan's offense when they play an average team and the way they look when they play a good Big Ten team?
As far as I'm concerned, this team is a joke.
Here they are, folks. The Week 12 BCS rankings, hot off the press:
