Barcelona Transfers: 12 Possible January Targets for Pep Guardiola

Barcelona added Cesc Fabregas to their ranks this summer as they continue to lock up more and more talent when the chance arrives.

While not quite the high level spenders that Real Madrid are, the Blaugrana hold their own.

With their current position not in the lead of La Liga, although remaining the only undefeated team in the Spanish top flight, the Catalan club are currently linked with a slew of high priced talent.

Gareth Bale

While believed to be one of the best left sided wide players in the world, Tottenham and Wales national Gareth Bale is one of the potential moves that Barcelona are rumored to be courting in January.

However, according to ESPNsoccernet.com, Barcelona President Sandro Rosell thinks Bales price tag is way too high.

Rafinha

Rafael Alcantara, known as, "Rafinha," may not be a transfer candidate for Barcelona, but he represents the future, according to reports from ESPN.

Securing him to a long term contract over the winter could be at the top of the clubs priority list as they hope to maintain their youth contingent for the future.

Christian Erikson

While Danish attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has been busy telling other clubs he is not going to move but remain at Ajax, he may just be wishing for the right big door to come open.

Barcelona are rumored to be sniffing around making an offer for the player as his stock only continues to rise in the Eredivisie.

Neymar

In one of the more ridiculous rumors of the day talksport has broken news, or crafted news, that it looks as though Neymar could now be signing for Barcelona instead of Real Madrid.

After his current club President at Santo, Luis Alvaro Ribeiro, stated that;

It is more and more possible that no one will ever know what is or isn't going to convince him to make a change.

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard could be another surprise target for the Catalan giants this January. As he is permanently on the want list of Real Madrid, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the true leader for his rights in the next couple months.

Paco Alcacer

Valencia's Paco Alcacer was being tracked as a possible young signing for Barcelona back in September of 2011 according to Goal.com.

Currently he still could be on the radar for a January signing as the Blaugrana are starting to add some more youth into the club as some of their stars are closing in on the primes of their career and would like to have the next wave of superstars ready to go in several years.

David Silva

So far this season David Silva has been completely off the charts for Manchester City. His form this season has him on the shopping list for multiple clubs, and with Barcelona's knack for wanting to bring in high priced Spanish talent, Silva could be on the target list.

However, there is no way he will be leaving City at this point with a chance to topple Manchester United at the top of the EPL in the cards for his future.

Leandro Damiao

Brazilian club Internacional could be subject to a €15 million raid by Barcelona in January for the signature of starlet Leandro Damiao.

Initial rumors began back in September of 2011 and the youngster could be along with Paco Alcacer for a believed incoming youth wave for the Catalan giants.

Robin Van Persie

While there are no official rumors tying Arsenal's Robin Van Persie with a move to Barcelona, it is a legitimate possibility.

The continued news that the Dutchman refuses to sign a new contract with the Gunners only strengthens speculation that he will be on his way either in January or in the summer depending on Arsenal's plans for the future and their willingness to negotiate for their best player.

David Luiz

Chelsea defender David Luiz was linked with Barcelona a few months ago in the fall of 2011. Luiz has not been a regular for the Blues since the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas.

It was rumored that he could be the long term replacement for Carlos Puyol when last linked to the club.

However, that may be more because of his hair style.

Gary Cahill

Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill has been no secret on the want list for multiple EPL clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool. Reports in people.co.uk linked the England international to the Spanish club in early October.

However, Barcelona are also apparently looking to make a move for the Englishman and give him a chance at the top level of the Spanish game.

With so many clubs in England having been rejected for his services, it is no surprise that a major club from outside of England could be interested in him.

Thiago Silva

The AC Milan defender is believed to be a possible target for the Spanish Champions. Their defensive ranks have been a weak link in the last few seasons with defensive midfielders having to spend a lot more time in central defensive and full back roles than they should.

Reports from tribalfootball indicate that Silva was not willing to discuss his future with the Rossoneri in late October, only fueling speculation about his future.
