BCS Rankings: Boise State Destined for a Spot in Fiesta Bowl After Loss to TCU

Boise State is once again headed to a BCS bowl game for underachieving college football powerhouses: the Tostito's Fiesta Bowl.

The No. 5 Broncos were the one team in the BCS Top 5 that could not, and would not, make the National Championship Game with a loss.

But TCU did them in on the "Smurf Turf" Saturday afternoon, 36-35, and now we'll be subjected to flashback highlights of the hook and ladder and Statue of Liberty plays that put Boise on the map nearly half a decade ago.

The Broncos do not deserve a shot at the title this year, or any year that they don't finish 12-0 with at least one or two quality out-of-conference wins.

It's hard not to root for Kellen Moore and Boise State year after year, they seem to be at the top of college football every season when the chips are stacked against them, but always come up short.

Recruiting is easy when you're winning so it's no shock that they have a deep roster of talent, but to be consistently among the top football programs in the nation and deal with that pressure late into the year every season says something.

It says that the Fiesta Bowl should be renamed after Boise State, and they should be an automatic qualifier for the postseason matchup as hosts.

That's right, they should host the Fiesta Bowl every year in Idaho, on the blue turf.

The Fiesta Bowl put the Broncos on the college football map in January 2007 against the Oklahoma Sooners, so why not use it to keep them there?

Boise State is loved and college football is a lesser game without them, but their late-season collapses are predictable and depressing.
