Tim Tebow: Broncos QB Will Revolutionize NFL Offense

David DanielsNov 13, 2011

Tim Tebow is the Lady Gaga of the NFL.

No, I’m not comparing the two entertainers’ wardrobes.  Like Lady Gaga gained fame because of her shocking attempts to break away from the social norm, Tebow is equally odd compared to every other professional quarterback.

The only thing more eye-opening than Tebow completing just two passes is that he only threw eight the entire game.  That statement shows just how poor the starting QB is as a passer, but he deserves more credit than criticism.  The ability to win a game in the NFL while throwing just eight passes is unbelievable.

Denver’s rapidly improving defense and their irregular-yet-effective offense combined efforts to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10 in Arrowhead Stadium.  One of Tebow’s two completed passes happened to be a 56-yard touchdown, and he added 43 yards on the ground along with an end zone visit.

While quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady lead pass-first offenses, Tebow is leading a no-pass offensive attack for the Broncos and it’s actually working.

The NFL is a copycat league.

Will teams begin to follow Denver’s lead right away?  Not a chance in the world, but it will without a doubt open the door for a similar-style quarterback to run a Bronco-like offense in the distant future.  A QB like Denard Robinson would have no problem playing in the same system.

There are a limited number of quarterbacks in the NFL that can put an offense on their back and lead them to a Super Bowl.  Instead of starting a quarterback that does nothing but protect the football by making smart passes, why not throw an athlete under center that defenses will be forced to account for?

This offense isn’t just a fad like the wildcat.  It won’t last a few weeks and then fade away.  Defenses already know Tebow can’t win a game with his arm and they still couldn't beat the Broncos the last two weeks.

Tebow will continue to break the mold, anger stubborn analysts and win football games, not as a passer, but a quarterback.
