BCS Rankings 2011: 4 Teams That Will Reshape BCS Standings
The BCS standings are going to look incredibly different after this past weekend of college football, especially if Boise State, Stanford and a few other teams have their say.
To be fair, the Broncos and Cardinal wish they didn't have a say, but the their respective losses will speak much louder than any arguments they may have.
The BCS won't just experience a shakeup because of losses though. For every huge loss there was an outstanding win.
Either way, there is a lot for those infamous BCS computers to figure out this week, and I expect that these four teams will play major factors in the mess:
Boise State
Personally the fact that Boise State was ever considered a national championship contender in the first place is silly, but now it's just downright wrong. If the Broncos aren't even the best team in the Mountain West how can we expect them to be one of the best teams in the country.
If I had my way, Boise would be unranked after this loss, but that isn't going to happen. That being said, I expect them to fall very far out of the Top 10, and even out of the Top 15 with their 36-35 loss to TCU.
Stanford
Unfortunately for the Cardinal, any hopes they had at being in the national championship most likely went out of the window when they lost to Oregon. That being said, the Ducks are an exceptional team, and now their loss to LSU to begin the season really finds a new perspective.
I expect the Ducks and Cardinal may just swap spots, but at this point of the season that's a huge statement.
Oregon
The Ducks essentially went out and won the Pac-12 when they beat Stanford, and now they put themselves in a pretty good position to perhaps make things interesting coming down the stretch.
Their only loss came at the hands of the now No.1 LSU Tigers, and considering how good the Tigers look, it really puts that Week 1 loss into perspective.
The Ducks can beat any-team anywhere, and they proved that by beating Stanford.
Virginia Tech
At 9-1, the Hokies need to start getting some big-time consideration in the BCS rankings, especially considering their only loss came against Clemson.
They went out and beat No. 21 Georgia Tech, and now have to get through two relatively easy games against North Carolina and Virginia to put themselves in position for revenge.
This is a great team, and they aren't necessarily getting the credit. I believe that will change very soon.
