BCS Rankings 2011: Boise State Loss Proves They Are Nation's Biggest Joke

Andrew KulhaNov 13, 2011

Boise State is becoming the college football worlds biggest punch-line, and the best part is that there is nothing they can do about it.

Call it hate, or call it jealousy.

In fact, call it whatever you want, but there is no question that the Broncos are the biggest joke in college football.

The very fact that they were even in the consideration for the national championship talk is silly in itself, so all the credit in the world has to go out to TCU for ending Boise's chances with a 36-35 victory.

If the Broncos couldn't even beat TCU at home, how could we expect them to hang with the likes of Alabama or Oklahoma State?

Let's not even start talking about LSU, because that would just be sad.

That's what happens when you play a schedule as diluted as Boise State's, though and once again it has come back to bite them.

Until this point their only win of note came against a ranked Georgia team in Week 1, but other than that they've played a bunch of scrubs.

Toledo, Tulsa, Nevada, Fresno State, Colorado State, Air Force and UNLV isn't exactly anything to write home about, especially if you want to consider yourself a national contender.

It's actually rather laughable that anybody could look at this schedule and see a national championship-worthy team.

How does it make sense that Boise State could be considered better than a team like one-loss Clemson, who has battled to wins over ranked Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech?

Or how about one-loss Oklahoma? Does anybody really believe that the Broncos could hold a candle to the Sooners?

The scary thing is, Oklahoma isn't even the best team in their conference, but then again, neither is Boise State now that they've lost to TCU.

It just goes to show that the hype machine that is the BCS can shine upon anybody, but when the rubber meets the road, your true colors will show.

The Broncos aren't a bad team, they just aren't capable of being a big-time program with that schedule that they have.

Thinking anything other than that is just laughable.
