Knowshon Moreno Injury: Update on Denver Broncos Star's Knee Injury

Alex KayNov 13, 2011

Knowshon Moreno went down with what looks to be a pretty nasty knee injury after having a solid start to the Denver Broncos game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was carted off to the locker room after going down and is highly doubtful to return.

Moreno is going to be severely missed, especially if Willis McGahee remains injured as well.

Update: Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3:20 p.m. ET

John Clayton is reporting that McGahee and Moreno are both unlikely to return to the game. Lance Ball and Tim Tebow will continue to pound the ball for the Broncos.

Fantasy Impact

Knowshon wasn’t a viable fantasy starter since McGahee firmly entrenched himself as the starter.

However, his production was looking up in Denver’s new option offense and he could be worth an add if he is able to return this season.

Who's the Backup?

Willis McGahee is the starter in Denver and Knowshon is the backup, but it looks like both RBs may now be injured.

Now the team will rely on RB Lance Ball and FB Spencer Larsen to shoulder the running load along with Tim Tebow.

This is not a good situation for a team that is literally going to live and die by the run.

Devastation Scale (How This Could Hurt Team 1-10 and Why)

If McGahee and Moreno are both injured for an extended period of time, this is a 10 on the devastation scale.

Coach John Fox just implemented a new rushing option attack for Tebow and his RBs; now they don’t have the players to run it.

Lance Ball isn’t terrible, but with little to no depth behind him things could get ugly very quickly.

Timeline for Return

There is no timeline set for return, but it is doubtful Knowshon comes back today.

What They're Saying

John Clayton is pointing out that both Denver RBs are hurt and their status is currently up in the air.
