Nicholas GossNov 13, 2011

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee was helped off the field after he hurt his hamstring against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, according to Pro Football Talk.

McGahee's left knee appeared to buckle and the running back seemed to be in pain without having been hit by a Chiefs player.

Knowshown Moreno has also left the game with an injury, so now the Broncos are really hurting with the depth at running back.

According to John Clayton of ESPN's twitter account, it doesn't look like McGahee or Moreno will return on Sunday versus the Chiefs.

UPDATE: 2:00 p.m. EST

Willis McGahee has been taken to the Broncos locker room due to his hamstring injury, according to Pro Football Talk. His return for Sunday's game is still questionable.

Fantasy Impact

Willis McGahee was having a very good season for the Broncos, and is averaging 89.3 rushing yards per game.

Last week against the Oakland Raiders he rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns in a Broncos win.

Who is the backup

With McGahee and Moreno getting hurt against the Chiefs on Sunday, Lance Ball has come into the game. Ball is the third string running back and has 25 carries for 131 yards this season.

Devastation Scale: 7 out of 10

McGahee is a quality running back but the Broncos do have a few other good backs like Moreno who are capable of filling in nicely.

With Moreno battling injuries this year too, McGahee's absence becomes a bit more severe. Quarterback Tim Tebow is also a good runner, and can carry some of the rushing burden if needed.

Timeline for return

McGahee's return to Sunday's game against the Chiefs is questionable.
