Patriots vs. Jets: Stat and Score Predictions for Huge Sunday Night Matchup

Jon DoveNov 13, 2011

Tonight's Sunday Night Football matchup promises to be an excellent game, featuring the rival New England Patriots versus the New York Jets. Both teams are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the AFC East. The outcome of this game will have major playoff implications.

This game features a ton of major stars, who will be looking to compile some excellent stats. Below, I will be giving some of my stat predictions, and at the end my final score prediction.

Quarterback

Tom Brady - 28-of-39, 379 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT

Brady is going to come out firing, looking to erase last week's loss. He is going to need to find success through the air, as the Jets will not allow New England to establish a running game.

Mark Sanchez - 21-of-32, 210 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT

Sanchez's season continues to have its ups and downs. He seems to really struggle when he is asked to score a lot of points. Tonight, New York will need to find a away to score some points, which is what will lead to the two interceptions.

Running Back

BenJarvus Green-Ellis - 15 carries, 66 yards, 1 TD

In the last meeting, Green-Ellis really embarrassed this Jets defense, who pride themselves as being a good run defense. However, Green-Ellis rumbled for 136 rushing yards. This game will be a different story, as the Jets will not let that happen twice.

Shonn Greene - 27 carries, 85 yards, 1 TD

Greene has seen his workload decrease the past few weeks, but he will find some success tonight. New York needs to establish a strong running attack, in order to relieve some of the pressure on Sanchez.

Wide Receiver

Wes Welker - Five receptions, 66 yards

Welker is going to find himself on Revis Island, which will really limit his production. He will still have a few catches, but will not really be a major factor.

Santonio Holmes - Four receptions, 76 yards, 1 TD

The Patriots offense is going to score some points tonight, meaning the Jets need to keep pace. This will put some focus on Holmes to make some plays down the field.

Defense

Vince Wilfork - Four tackles and a forced fumble

The Jets are going to try to "ground and pound' their way down the field. It will be up to Wilfork and the defensive line to stuff the running lanes.

Darrelle Revis - Six tackles and two pass breakups

Revis will draw the assignment of covering Wes Welker. He will chase him all over the field, and really limit Welker's impact on the game.

Final Score: New England Patriots 31, New York Jets 24
