Peyton Hillis Injury: Why It's Time to Cut Bait with Fantasy Football Bust

Donald WoodNov 13, 2011

The Cleveland Browns are almost as tired of power running back Peyton Hillis as fantasy owners are of his shenanigans and injuries.

Hillis is going to miss another game with a “significant strain” to his hamstring, and his general attitude over his status with the team has made him an unbearable teammate and a waste of space on your fantasy roster.

While the Browns are stuck with him until the end of the season, you can do something about it, but should you?

It’s time to cut bait with the running back.

After the amazing season in 2010, it’s highly likely that you took Hillis early in the fantasy football draft.

Did you not see him on the cover of Madden?

There was a curse on Hillis just like the rest of the Madden coverboys, and it’s time for your team to rid that curse.

With the trade deadline just days away for most fantasy football leagues, it may be worth it to see if anyone would be willing to make a trade for the troubled star.

Most teams will scoff at the idea, but look to the top teams in your league who may be willing to take the risk of no points now for a possible return to glory around playoff time.

If you are relegated to the waiver wire, Jackie Battle of the Kansas City Chiefs is an interesting starter to fill in while Hillis rots in fantasy free agency.

There is nothing harder than cutting a super high draft pick because its admitting failure, but in this case its more than necessary.
