NFL Week 10 Picks: Picks for All 13 Games

Jon DoveNov 13, 2011

Week 10 of the NFL season is here and ready to kick off. Today's games will have a major impact on each conference's playoff race.

We are at the point in the season when the contenders hope to separate themselves from the pretenders.

This week, we have a lot of big divisional matchups, as well has some games that will impact playoff seeding. One of the biggest games on the schedule is the Detroit Lions versus the Chicago Bears, a game that will likely decide one of the Wild Card spots.

In the AFC, the New York Jets are taking on the New England Patriots. This game is always very entertaining, thanks to the verbal show put on by Rex Ryan. Ryan hopes he can draw up a defensive scheme capable of stopping Tom Brady.

On a side note, there are several teams still looking to land the top overall pick in April's draft. These teams are playing (or losing) for the right to select Stanford's Andrew Luck.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles

1 of 14

This game was supposed to mark the return of Kevin Kolb to Philadelphia, but Kolb will miss the game due to an injury.

Outside of the Kolb storyline, this game features two teams who have really disappointed.

Both really felt like they had a shot to win their division.

The Eagles have struggled to play good all-around football. They have had problems on both sides of the ball, with the defense being the real weak point.

Sitting at 3-5, the Eagles appear on the outside looking in at the playoffs.

Arizona has been equally disappointing, with a lot of their struggles coming on the offensive side of the ball. The Kevin Kolb era has not gotten off to a very good start, with some already questioning the trade.

However, he isn't surrounded with a lot of great talent. It appears that this team is in a true rebuilding phase.

I expect to see the Eagles to put on a good performance. The Cardinals just don't have the players capable of making this game competitive.

Vick and the offense will come out in attack mode, hoping to erase the memory of last week's failure.

Arizona's offense is just not going to be able to keep pace with the Eagles. Their struggles protecting the quarterback will likely be exposed by the Eagles' strong pass-rush.

Score prediction: Eagles 35, Cardinals 10

Tennessee Titans vs. Carolina Panthers

2 of 14

Today is going to be the breakout game for Tennessee's Chris Johnson.

He is facing a Carolina Panthers team who allows more than 130 rushing yards per game.

I feel that we will see a lot more effort out of Johnson this week, which will result in good production.

I also feel that we will see a strong performance out of Cam Newton. This is a good opportunity for Newton and the Panthers to earn another victory.

Carolina's offense is going to take their share of shots down the field, while also working to establish a strong running attack.

Score prediction: Panthers 21, Titans 17

Houston Texans vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

3 of 14

The recent play of both teams would lead you to believe that the Houston Texans are the favorites.

However, these are two of the most unpredictable teams in the entire NFL.

Just when you feel the Texans are ready to turn the corner, they suffer a setback. The Buccaneers are the same way, but in that when you start to count them out, they pull off a big win.

Today's game is going to feature two teams looking to establish a strong running attack.

The success of Arian Foster and LeGarrette Blount will be the determining factor in the outcome of this game. Foster is set up to have a very big game, as Tampa Bay struggles to stop the run.

Score prediction: Texans 35, Buccaneers 21

Washington Redskins vs. Miami Dolphins

4 of 14

This is one of the least exciting games on this week's schedule.

Both the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins are playing bad football, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Both of these teams are suffering though some bad quarterback play.

The outcome of this game could have a major impact on the final order in April's draft.

Both teams will be looking to add a quarterback, making the outcome of this game important to those looking toward the draft.

I think we will see the Redskins pull off the victory today, mainly because they have the better defense and running game.

However, if you want to see some poor quarterback play, this is the game to watch. Neither John Beck, Rex Grossman nor Matt Moore is very exciting to watch.

Score prediction: Redskins 21, Dolphins 17

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts

5 of 14

There is a good chance this football game ends in a 0-0 tie, as both teams are really struggling to put up points.

This may be a game you want to skip, as I expect to see some really sloppy play.

However, there will still be some talented players on the field.

The outcome of this game rests on the shoulders of both starting quarterbacks.

Blaine Gabbert and Curtis Painter have not been playing very good football. However, both have an opportunity to earn a win for their football team.

I think we will see some good offensive production out of the Colts. This is a divisional game, and likely one of the few winnable games left on their schedule.

We are going to see the Colts get their first win of the season, thanks to the erratic play of rookie Blaine Gabbert.

Score prediction: Colts 21, Jaguars 10

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs

6 of 14

This game features two of the most unpredictable teams in the entire NFL.

Both the Broncos and Chiefs have given good performances and very poor performances.

The Chiefs started the season struggling to play competitive football. However, they then went on a good winning streak only to suffer a loss at the hands of the then-winless Miami Dolphins.

Denver is in the middle of the Tim Tebow experiment, which provides some entertaining football.

Tebow plays the game unlike any quarterback in the league. His play doesn't look pretty, but he has found a way to win two of the Broncos' last three games.

Today, I expect to see the Chiefs use their running game and home-field advantage to pull off the victory. Arrowhead is a tough place to play, especially for Tim Tebow and the rival Denver Broncos.

Score prediction: Chiefs 17, Broncos 10

Buffalo Bills vs. Dallas Cowboys

7 of 14

The Buffalo Bills and Ryan Fitzpatrick seem to be coming back down to Earth.

Their overall play has started to slip, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

Today's game versus the Dallas Cowboys is close to a must-win situation.

Actually, this game is a must-win situation for both the Bills and the Cowboys.

Dallas is trying to keep pace with the New York Giants. This is a game that playoff teams don't lose—a home game against a less-talented opponent.

I expect to see Rob Ryan use a lot of the same defensive schemes that his brother Rex used last week against the Bills.

New York's defensive approach really limited the Bills' high-powered offensive attack. In the end, I don't see the Bills keeping pace with this more talented Cowboys team.

Score prediction: Cowboys 28, Bills 21

New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons

8 of 14

This game has major playoff and divisional implications.

The winner will be in the driver seat of the NFC South, a spot that could also earn a first-round bye.

Both of these teams have had their ups and downs but will bring their A-game today.

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints will do what they always do—score points.

It will be up to Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons offense to keep pace. Ryan needs to avoid turnovers, while also matching the Saints score for score.

Atlanta is going to try and feature Michael Turner in order to establish a running game and take pressure off of Ryan.

Atlanta's ability to control the clock is what will be the difference in this football game.

Score prediction: Falcons 31, Saints 28

St. Louis Rams vs. Cleveland Browns

9 of 14

Sam Bradford is another week removed from his injury, which should put him closer to full strength.

Bradford's presence will give this St. Louis Rams offense a leg up versus the Cleveland Browns.

However, the key will be Steven Jackson's ability to run the ball.

Neither the Rams nor Browns feature a high-powered offensive attack, but both teams have below-average defensive units.

The outcome of this game will be decided by what team can find some offensive rhythm. I like Bradford to find his stride this week.

Score prediction: Rams 21, Browns 17

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals

10 of 14

I am really looking forward to watching this football game.

It will be the first real test for Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton.

He is getting his first taste of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, who excel at confusing young quarterbacks.

Pittsburgh is going to bring a ton of pressure, and it will be up to Dalton to find open targets.

Today we will find out if this Cincinnati Bengals team is a true playoff contender. Up until now, the Bengals have done most of their damage against mid-level competition.

I expect to see Dalton have a little bit of jitters, which will lead to a turnover or two.

However, the Bengals defense will keep them in the game long enough for Dalton to find a rhythm. I see a late game-winning drive by Andy Dalton.

Score prediction: Bengals 17, Steelers 13

Baltimore Ravens vs. Seattle Seahawks

11 of 14

I want to say that the Baltimore Ravens will easily win today's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

On paper, these teams are not very close, with the Ravens featuring a lot more talent.

However, Baltimore has really struggled against weaker competition.

The Ravens need to find a way to play with the same intensity each and every week.

Seattle doesn't have the talent to play with the Ravens, but if Baltimore doesn't come to play, we could see an upset.

I see the Ravens learning from their past two letdowns and winning this game with ease.

I expect to see a lot of Ray Rice and a few shots down the field with Torrey Smith. Defensively, Baltimore is going to be too much for this Seahawks offense.

Score prediction: Ravens 28, Seahawks 13

New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers

12 of 14

This football game has major playoff implications, as these two division leaders look to earn a first-round bye.

Both the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers have a comfortable lead in their division but need to stay focused on the task at hand.

Everyone has been shocked by the 49ers early-season success, especially their ability to win on the East Coast.

San Francisco is going to get a taste of their own medicine today, as an East coast team travels to the West coast and pulls off the victory.

I don't see the 49ers offense scoring enough points to pull off the win today.

This won't be a high-scoring game, but I think New York will put up enough points to get a big win.

Score prediction: Giants 24, 49ers 13

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

13 of 14

This might be the biggest game on this week's schedule.

Both the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions are playing at a high level, but there isn't a realistic scenario where both teams reach the playoffs.

The outcome of today's game could virtually decide who gets one of the Wild Card spots.

Chicago has already suffered a loss to the Lions, making another loss a devastating result.

However, Chicago is playing their best football of the season. They have figured out their offensive line problems and have established a really strong running attack.

Defensively, they are playing some really good football.

The Lions are still getting used to winning, but they seem to enjoy it. Their defensive line is going to be a key to today's game. They need to both stuff the run and get some pressure on Jay Cutler.

However, they won't have home-field advantage to help them get off this time.

I see Chicago getting a much-needed win today.

Score prediction: Chicago 24, Lions 21

New England Patriots vs. New York Jets

14 of 14

Tom Brady is due for a bounce-back game, and he always seems to find some success against the New York Jets.

As usual, the outcome of this game will be determined by the Jets' ability to slow down Tom Brady.

The past few weeks have not been very easy for Tom Brady. He has struggled, which has caused some visible frustration.

Today's game will provide Brady the opportunity to get some of his mojo back.

I feel that the Patriots will come out firing, trying to score some quick points.

They know that the Jets offense isn't capable of overcoming an early deficit. Mark Sanchez and the Jets offense need to find a way to establish the running game.

However, New York is not going to be able to ground this game out. They are going to have to score some points to keep pace with Brady.

Score prediction: Patriots 31, Jets 21
