Why Matthew Stafford Is Bound to Let Detroit Lions Down in Postseason

The Detroit Lions have been a great story, but also a team looking poised to make a strong playoff run. Detroit has really done a great job adding talent, especially in the key positions.  As everyone knows, the quarterback position is the one position you where need an elite player.

Quarterbacks are often responsible for their team's run to a Super Bowl title. Detroit is resting a lot of their hopes on the arm of Matthew Stafford. Stafford is finally living up to the promise he has shown at different parts of this career. He has put up very impressive numbers, throwing for 19 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

Stafford is what makes this Lions offense successful. They don’t have the talent at running back to overcome a poor game by Stafford. Stafford’s injury history is also a cause for concern. He has been able to remain healthy this season, but his injury history cannot be overlooked.

At this point, Detroit has a small lead in the wild-card hunt, but will need a strong finish to lockdown a playoff spot. Today’s game versus the Chicago Bears will go a long way to deciding the final few playoff spots in the NFC.

There is a lot of pressure on Stafford, he needs to remain consistent and healthy. Stafford is going to find himself in a lot of pressure situations. We will find out if his lack of experience will impact his play on the field. We will find out if Stafford is able to overcome the injury prone label and lead this team into the playoffs.

Every Detroit Lions fan is holding their breath, hoping Stafford can remain healthy. They have seen him miss so much time, that an injury is almost expected. At this point, it seems like a 50/50 chance that Stafford finishes the season, or disappoints and entire fan base.
