Miami Dolphins Do Not Need Luck to Win

I wouldn't be much of a soothsayer if I waited until after today's game to write this, but if the Dolphins can make the second half of the season a "like night and day" scenario, many writers will be hopping on the bandwagon to say how the team is really not so bad after all.

This is something I have been saying all along. I may not have been going too far out on a limb when I said that 0 &16 isn't happening, but you cannot argue with my timing.

Today, the Dolphins will be at home for the Redskins and, guess what, 1 & 15 isn't happening either.

It's better late then never. Several of our primary weaknesses are beginning to work themselves out: The offensive line, the defensive coverages and the pressure from the front seven are all improving.

Don't look now, but one could start making a case that the latest draft player-for-player is starting to look like a good idea. If you look at each player and imagine them healthy, the draft starts to look even better.

Can Matt Moore be our quarterback of the future?

Now that may really be making too much of one win! Having said that, however, I am going to predict that Moore—and several other coaches and players in place now—will create some difficult decisions at the end of the year.

This is a good thing.

For example: Mike Nolan, who was so highly touted last year, has come under scrutiny as of late. In some cases, he has even been viewed as one of the candidates for the chopping block.

What happens if the defense turns it around in the second half? I could make a similar case for several different people on the staff and the roster.

I am gambling on this. As early as this evening, readers can write me back and say, "So much for your predictions!"

Still, I am standing by what I say. As the second half of the season develops, the Dolphins will win some of the games that they are supposed to and some games that they are not supposed to. They will become spoilers and gain some respectability.
