Pacquiao vs. Marquez Results: Boos Tell the Story of Pac-Man's Controversial Win

Eric BallNov 13, 2011

How in the world is this possible?

How did the judges award Manny Pacquiao the win in last night’s fight against Juan Manuel Marquez?

It was incredibly clear that Marquez was landing more punches, blocking the majority of Pacquiao’s hooks and was in better shape after the fight.

Yet when the final decision was made, it was Pacquiao that raised his hands in victory. A loud and raucous crowd immediately showered the ring with boos. They all saw the fight, and were shocked upon hearing the results just like everybody else.

OK, so not everybody thought Marquez clearly won, but they are in the vast minority. Marquez may not be able to open his eyelids tomorrow, but Pacquiao is going to have a nasty cut under his eye for a long time as well. That was the biggest gash of the bout and yet another reason Marquez should have won the fight.

Sure, there were plenty of thunderous Marquez fans involved in the booing, but that was loud enough to believe every fan just looking for the best bout possible felt robbed. What better way to show your displeasure than a loud round of boos?

People were throwing drinks on the ring and cursing Pac-man at the top of their lungs, even as he was attempting to conduct post-fight interviews. It’s not fair and it’s the latest example of why boxing is experiencing a slow and painful death.

All fans want is the true champion to be crowned.

When one of the good guys in the sport gets booed…there is clearly a major problem.

On Saturday night, fans didn’t get what they asked for…not until we got a Round 4.
