BCS Rankings: Why Oklahoma State Will Be LSU's Toughest Test

Michael DixonNov 13, 2011

What once looked like a hectic BCS picture is slowly starting to clear itself up. Undefeated teams are falling by the week, and only a few teams have a realistic shot at competing in the BCS National Championship Game.

The first is obvious. LSU is undefeated and has handled a difficult schedule. As long as they win, the Tigers belong in the BCS National Championship Game, no questions asked.

But who would give them the best game? Well, if you've seen Oklahoma State and its thunderous offense in gear, there shouldn't be much doubt in your mind.

I know Alabama gave LSU a good game. But the fact of the matter is that they lost. Also, in this current format, I really don't like the idea of a regular-season rematch in the BCS. That seems to defeat the purpose of the entire regular season.

LSU has a tremendous defense. They have fantastic, NFL-caliber athletes all throughout the defense. Wouldn't it be nice to see them go against a team that hits over 50 points per game?

Give me that any day of the week. The problem is that Oklahoma State still has a tough road ahead. They should absolutely demolish Iowa State next week, but their regular season finale against Oklahoma will be a tough contest.

But while this may not be true in most seasons, the Cowboys are better than the Sooners this season. Given the fact that this is a home game, they really should win that one.

As far as competing with LSU, we know that Alabama can do it. But we also know that Alabama has already lost a home game to LSU, and that the two teams are eerily similar.

Why not stage a game between two teams with different styles? Oklahoma State's offense will give LSU's defense its best test.

I am not saying that LSU would lose that game. Actually, I don't think they would. But no team would test the Tigers more with the BCS National Championship on the line than the Cowboys.
