College Football Scores: Georgia Looks Good, but Will Still Fall to SEC West

Jake MartinNov 12, 2011

The Georgia Bulldogs are looking better each and every week, with their latest win coming in the 45-7 destruction of the Auburn Tigers, but the Bulldogs still won’t win the SEC Championship.

From Aaron Murray to Brandon Boykin to Isaiah Crowell, these Bulldogs are talented, but I’m not ready to say that they’ll upset the winner of the SEC West just yet.

Murray had a stellar performance against Auburn, throwing four touchdowns and only four incompletions, but Auburn’s defense is a little bit different than, say, the LSU Tigers' or Alabama Crimson Tide’s.

Depending on how the LSU game with the Arkansas Razorbacks turns out, LSU will most likely be the team to represent the SEC West. Just for this article's purpose, let’s pretend that they will be the ones to represent the West.

Comparing both of these teams, it’s obvious that both squads have great talent on both sides of the football, and Georgia is really getting hot at the right moment.

But there’s a difference between a really good defense and an elite defense, and LSU has an elite defense. Their quickness and athleticism is unmatched by any team in the country, and they’ll get after Murray often.

As for LSU’s offense, they’ve been shaky as of late.  They struggled against Alabama last week, which is understandable because of the quality of players the Crimson Tide has on defense, but the Tigers had only scored 14 on Western Kentucky at the half. That’s unacceptable.

With the Tigers having their fair share of problems on the offensive side of the football, it does open up the door for the Bulldogs to pull off the ultimate upset.

But it won’t happen.

LSU still has a couple more games to iron out the kinks and to get the ball rolling like they did earlier this year. The bottom line is that the Bulldogs are good, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.
