College Football Scores: Boise State's BCS Dreams Go Up In Smoke With Upset Loss

Jake MartinNov 12, 2011

The Boise State Broncosโ€™ resume for finally reaching the coveted BCS title game vanished with a swing of a foot.

In college football, nothing is a given and anyone can go down on any given week. Unfortunately for Boise State, they found this out first hand... again.

Once again, all the hopes of the Broncos were placed on the foot of a kicker, and this time it was the foot of Dan Goodale that missed the go-ahead field goal. With the miss, the Broncos; hopes for playing in the championship game are now long gone.

I hate to say it, okay maybe I donโ€™t hate to say it, but I told you so. The Broncos are a really good team, but they are just not elite like your LSUโ€™s and Alabamaโ€™s.

They donโ€™t play the same quality opponents that those teams face week in and week out, and now theyโ€™ve lost one of their two tough games they play a year.

You canโ€™t expect to play for national championships when you play those quality opponents, especially if you canโ€™t win the tougher games on your schedule.

Now, the Broncos will have to watch the BCS on television, and thatโ€™s the way it should be anyway. I hate to kick a man when theyโ€™re down, but did you really want to see them play against LSU or Alabama?

It would have been a massacre. Kellen Mooreโ€™s never seen a defense like that in his life, and he wouldnโ€™t be able to do anything with those suffocating defenses in his face.

As for Moore's career, itโ€™s been quite a successful one. Heโ€™s posted great numbers against less-than-mediocre competition, but heโ€™s won a lot of games nonetheless.

Unfortunately for him and the rest of his Broncos teammates, they wonโ€™t have a crystal ball at the end of this season.
