Georgia Football: 5 Things We Learned About the Bulldogs Against Auburn

Brian JonesNov 12, 2011

Georgia came into the game against Auburn as a 12-point favorite.

The Bulldogs were able to cover the spread, and then some, as they blow past Auburn 45-7.

This is the one game where the Bulldogs needed to prove to the doubters that they are for real. The Bulldogs proved that they are worthy of their 8-2 record because they dominated an Auburn team that has played better-than-average football.

Here are five things we learned about the Bulldogs in their win against the Tigers.

Aaron Murray Is Starting to Get It

1 of 5

Aaron Murray played well in the game against New Mexico State, and because of that, he was able to carry that momentum against Auburn.

In the first half, Murray threw for four touchdowns and was 4-for-4 on third-down conversions.

Murray has worked hard to become a better quarterback and it looks like it's paying off.

Bacarri Rambo Is Fun to Watch

2 of 5

Bacarri Rambo got caught on a big pass play at the start of the game that led to a touchdown for Auburn. But he was able to bounce back with an interception in the second quarter, which was returned for a touchdown.

Rambo now leads the SEC with seven interceptions and has really become a fun player to watch along with the rest of the players on defense.

Could he be in the running for SEC Defensive Player of the Year?

The Georgia Front Seven on Defense Is Tough

3 of 5

We know how good Jarvis Jones is, and he had another strong game against the Tigers. But other linebackers Alec Ogletree and Christian Robinson were all over the field as well as defensive linemen John Jenkins, Abry Jones and DeAngelo Tyson.

UGA defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has done a great job giving this unit an edge. Because of that, the unit has swagger and has really been one of the best in the country this season.

The Wide Receiver Position Is Deep

4 of 5

One of the big questions coming into the season was who is going to replace A.J. Green?

Now the question is which receiver has made the most plays?

Malcolm Mitchell, Chris Conley and Michael Bennett are young, but they are playing like they have been in the system for three years.

They have the ability to make big plays at any given point and those three, along with Tavarres King, has made Murray's life a lot easier.

The Running Game Is Not Only About Isaiah Crowell

5 of 5

Isaiah Crowell had a big game as he rushed for over 100 yards with one touchdowns.

But Carlton Thomas had the game of his career, rushing for 127 yards on 15 carries.

The Bulldogs need Crowell to play like he did in the second half against Auburn, but if Thomas plays like the way he played against Auburn, the Bulldogs should have no problems against Kentucky and Georgia Tech.
