Oklahoma State Football: Recapping the Cowboys' 66-6 Victory over Texas Tech

William PenfieldNov 12, 2011

The Oklahoma State Cowboys proved, once again, why they have the best offense in college football earlier this afternoon when they trounced Texas Tech, 66-6.

A touchdown was scored in each of the Cowboys' seven first half possessions, giving them a 49-0 lead going into halftime.

They took their foot off the pedal a bit in the second half, only scoring 17 points, but they still did not punt the ball away until late in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon seem to be a unstoppable duo for the Cowboys as they connected for two more scores today.

Blackmon ended the day with six catches for 103 yards and two scores, while Weeden, who broke Zac Robinson's all-time touchdown record at Oklahoma State in this game, tossed for 423 yards and five touchdowns on 31-of-37 passing.

In the 10 games the Cowboys have played they have never failed to score less than 30 points and only scored less than 50 four times.

All season long this offense has been unstoppable and today the defense finally showed up too, holding the Red Raiders to just six points, albeit not a very good Texas Tech team but they did put up 41 points in their victory over Oklahoma.

Behind their offense, the Cowboys seem to be on a collision course with LSU to meet up in the BCS National Championship game.

If, in fact, they do meet, it will be an epic matchup between a great offense and a great defense.

An offense that scores 51.7 points per game against a defense that allows just 10.9 per game.

Many critics would give the Cowboys no chance of taking down the mighty Tigers of the SEC but that is just not true.

With the amount of offensive fire power they have, the Cowboys could wear down the Tigers' defense unlike any team they have faced before. The best offense they have played all year is Oregon's and they aren't nearly as prolific as Oklahoma State.

College football fans all around should hope for this matchup in the BCS National Championship to see the nations best reciever, Blackmon, go up against the nations top corners in Morris Clairborne and Tyrann Mathieu.

It would certainly be one for the ages.
