UFC Undisputed 3: Game's Creation of Velasquez-Dos Santos Title Fight Impressive

Ryan RudnanskyNov 12, 2011

UFC Undisputed 3 may be slated for a January 30 release, but it's already gaining considerable buzz around the Octagon.

On Tuesday, creator THQ gave gamers a sneak peek of the latest release with a creation of Saturday's Cain Velasquez-Junior Dos Santos heavyweight title fight.

Although the fight was short and sweet for Velasquez in the game (a TKO in the second round), this game jumps out at you right away.

A game can have all the graphics in the world, but if it doesn't have realistic animations, it defeats the purpose.

The animations for Undisputed 3 are spot-on. From the takedowns to the big punches to the way fighters react to contact, you can't help but be thrilled for this game's release.

The animations are going to make Undisputed 3 a joy to play by themselves, but there have also been considerable changes made to the game...for the better.

For one, the control system when going in for a submission on the ground is much easier. Instead of flicking the control stick in a variety of directions, fighters inherently know the right move for their abilities in a given situation if you just push them forward. This would be troubling to some if fighters didn't do the right thing, but this game does a good job of instilling fighters with realistic moves and tendencies.

On top of that, you now have leg kick TKOs, new submissions and a system in which your fighters can fake out their opponents (fake for the takedown, then land a devastating uppercut, for example).

But it doesn't end there. Folks, get ready for this...you can now fight in the Pride Fighting Championship.

The now-defunct organization sparked the careers of some of the best MMA fighters in the world and was in part responsible for the rise of mixed martial arts. It also had a different rule set, which means you basically have two games in one (for example, you can head stomp in Pride while your opponent is on the ground).

For those of you worried that THQ would mail it in after the first two installments were so successful, no need to worry anymore. This game looks like the real deal and the most comprehensive UFC game yet.
