NFL Picks Week 10: Games Guaranteed to Go Down to the Wire

Josh SchochNov 12, 2011

We've seen some great close games this NFL season and Week 10 will be no different.

There are five games that will surely come down to the final drive of the game, providing some intense football for us fans.

Buffalo Bills at Dallas Cowboys

Both of these teams have had their fair share of close games.  The Cowboys have had some impressive collapses, while the Bills have had quite a few comebacks.

This week will be no different; the Bills will be able to pressure Tony Romo and force interceptions, but they'll have a harder time trying to contain athletic rookie DeMarco Murray.

This game will still be relatively high-scoring, and it will come down to who has the ball last.

New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons

In this NFC South matchup, the Falcons are looking to overcome a 2-3 start to win four straight games as they host the Saints.

The Saints will rely on their offense to keep them in this game, knowing the Falcons can put up some serious points as well.

This game may decide who plays as the NFC South Champion in the playoffs, and it will be remarkably close.

Tennessee Titans vs. Carolina Panthers

The 4-4 Tennessee Titans travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers this week.  Cam Newton has led the Panthers to a respectable season, but their 2-6 record doesn't show it.

They now play the Titans who rely on Chris Johnson.  If Johnson can do well against the worst run defense in the NFL, then the Titans will win.  But if he can't, the Panthers will be victorious.

Either way, this is going to be a close game decided by less than a touchdown.

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

The surprisingly good Detroit Lions travel to Chicago to take on the Bears this week.  The Bears' defense is not what it used to be, but it will be able to contain the Lions enough that Matt Forte's explosiveness can be the deciding factor.

These two teams are both very talented.  This game has serious playoff-implications as both teams fight for second place in the division.

If the game were in Detroit, it would not be as close, but since it's in Chicago, the Bears have an edge and this game will go down to the wire.

New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers

In what I consider to be the game of the week, the 6-2 Giants take on the 7-1 49ers.

The 49ers have only had a few key victories (against Detroit and Cincinnati), but those teams are not as good as the Giants.

Eli Manning is not throwing many interceptions, which has led to the Giants having a terrific season.  Their next task is topping Jim Harbaugh's 49ers—a task they can manage.

This game is going to come down to the wire with the Giants relying on Manning against the second-best run defense in the NFL, and the 49ers relying on their sixth-best ground game.

This may not be a high-scoring affair, but it will certainly be close.
