Pacquiao vs. Marquez Weigh In: Pac-Man's Motivation on Display at Calm Encounter

Patrick ClarkeNov 12, 2011

Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez chose not to get in each other's faces and force a story out of their Friday weigh in.

Instead, both boxers looked ripped and ready for the ring bell.

The welterweight fighters are scheduled to touch gloves tonight in Vegas, in what will be the third and final fight of their intense rivalry, marked by two controversial decisions in 2004 and 2008, the latest going in the way of Pacquiao.

Marquez has been vocal about the fact that he feels he defeated Pacquiao in both of the previous fights, and even designed shirts last November which read "Marquez Beat Pacquiao Twice!!"

Pacquiao's camp voiced their frustrations over Marquez's lack of respect shortly after and leading up to Saturday night's fight.

In the past few weeks, the focus on Pacquiao has shifted to his potential big money fight with undefeated Floyd Mayweather next spring.

Mayweather's camp recently came out to the media that they had a date and venue for the much-anticipated fight with the "little fella," better known as Manny Pacquiao.

There are certainly a plethora of distractions on Pacquiao's mind as he nears his title bout with the 38-year-old Marquez, Mayweather among other things.

But still his motivation to remain one of the best boxers on the planet is destined to outshine any of that.

His calm and determined look at Friday's weigh in shows the maturity and professionalism that has come to make Pacquiao a household name.

Given the results of the past two fights between Pacquiao and Marquez, the Pac-Man has even more motivation to dominate Round 3.

Some, even if it's just Marquez's camp, have doubts about whether he should have won, and Pacquiao can settle the issue once and for all on the main stage, while giving Mayweather something to top in his next outing.
