Week 10 Stat Em Sit Em: Top 10 WRs You Must Bench This Week

Josh SchochNov 12, 2011

Week 10 is a rough week for fantasy wide receivers.  There aren't any very favorable matchups this week, and these three stars must be benched this week.  The three guys have all become Top 10 wide receivers this year, but they cannot be trusted this week.

A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals

A.J. Green has had an excellent rookie season.  He and quarterback Andy Dalton have hooked up for 40 receptions, 599 yards and five touchdowns.

Green is ranked No. 7 among receivers in standard fantasy leagues, but a tough matchup against the Steelers will lead to him riding the bench this week.

The Steelers are going to put some serious pressure on rookie Andy Dalton, forcing errant throws, interceptions, and little to no production from Green.

He's rewarded you so far if you took a chance on him, but this week he can't be trusted.

Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers is the No. 1 quarterback, leading the best offense in the league, so it's not surprising that his receivers are doing well too.

Jordy Nelson has become the No. 9 wide receiver in standard leagues, but he will fall out of the Top 10 this week.

Nelson is a big-play receiver, and while the Minnesota Vikings are prone to letting up big plays they also so not challenge opponents.

The Packers will take an early lead and just cruise for most of the game.  There is no need to throw the ball deep in this game, and Mike McCarthy won't risk it.

Nelson isn't going to have another big day this week, and he should be benched.

Wes Welker, New England Patriots

Bothered by his ribs and his neck, Welker has struggled as of late.  The No. 2 fantasy receiver has only found the end zone once since Week 4, and he won't be able to do so when he's put on Revis Island this week against the Jets.

Last time these two played Welker went for 124 yards on five catches, but he was healthy back then, and he did that at home.

Now they play the Jets on the road, and the Jets are very tough at home.  Revis struggled in Week 5 against Welker, but he will be ready this week, and he will not get more than five catches for 80 yards in this game.

While he's worth a start if you don't have a lot of option I'd bench Welker since he is unlikely to do much or find the end zone this week.
