Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez: Pac-Man Must Show Dominance Early
Manny Pacquiao must show he will dominate his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez from the opening bell, and continue his strong start through the first couple rounds.
Marquez has fought Pacquiao twice before, so he will be comfortable in the ring and shouldn't be surprised by anything Pac-Man throws at him.
Marquez has also gotten stronger during his training for this fight, and Pacquiao must show he is able to withstand a likely more offensive attack from Marquez in the early going.
Being able to withstand Marquez's power starts with defense.
Pacquiao must be able to keep himself in a position where he can block Marquez's punches and punish him when the Mexican makes a mistake.
Pac-Man also needs strong footwork. He must use his speed and quickness advantage in this fight. Marquez is 38 years old and with the proper footwork, Pacquiao should be able to counter the Mexican's added strength.
By knocking Marquez down early in the fight, Pacquiao will lessen the Mexican's high level of confidence coming into this fight.
If Pacquiao can knock Marquez down multiple times, he will rattle the Mexican and be able to take over the fight and end it quickly.
Marquez has the amount of confidence that few opponents of Pacquiao have when going into a fight, so dominating the bout early will be a vital part of Pac-Man's strategy on Saturday night.
