Week 10 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Maurice Jones-Drew and Must-Start RBs

Thad NovakNov 12, 2011

Michael Bush got the week off to a good start for any fantasy owners who managed to get him into the lineup, but there are plenty of strong running back options remaining for the weekend’s games.

This trio looks sure to put up big numbers in Week 10:

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville

Defenses can always key on Jones-Drew (who is the only functioning part of the Jaguars’ offense right now), but keying on him and stopping him are two different tasks.

For a struggling Colts team ranked next-to-last in the league against the rush, the latter is probably an impossible task.

Even if Indy plays its best game of the season, it’s hard to imagine the Jaguars having to play catch-up against them, meaning that Jones-Drew will be in play for all four quarters. With a bit of luck, he could have his biggest fantasy day of the season.

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota

Ordinarily, runners facing B.J. Raji and the Packers’ eighth-ranked run defense aren’t very reliable fantasy picks, especially at Lambeau Field.

Adrian Peterson, however, should buck that trend.

Peterson blasted the Pack for 175 yards and a TD in their first meeting of the season, and there’s little reason to expect Green Bay to stop him this time around.

QB Christian Ponder will probably have a tough time of it on the road, but Peterson should get his numbers before the Vikings become forced to throw every down.

Arian Foster, Houston

With the Houston passing game missing Andre Johnson for yet another week, there’s no reason not to ride the wave with the Texans’ ground attack. Arian Foster has been tough to stop even when defenses know he’s coming, and this week’s matchup with Tampa Bay should work in his favor.

The Bucs are ranked a disappointing 26th against the run, and fantasy backs have been taking advantage. Add in the likelihood that Houston will be killing clock late against a Tampa team that’s lost three of four, and Foster becomes an even better option.
