NHL Power Rankings: Week 10

The Canucks continue to play hard and keep winning...Bruins pulling away from Rangers...Stars, Senators, and Maple Leafs continue to struggle...'Canes fall off down the stretch...San Jose keeps on track for breakthrough season.

Mark Jones' NHL Power Rankings: Week 10

1. San Jose Sharks: 52 points, 25-3-2

No reason to move them anywhere. They're playing better than any other team in a long time, and a winning percentage of .833 after 30 games is incredible.

2. Detroit Red Wings: 44 points, 20-6-4

The Wings are playing just like they did in their Stanley Cup year last season, but thanks to the Sharks, that isn't enough to even get them first place in their conference. Still, complete domination on both sides of the ice, and an away record of 11-3-2 sure helps, too.

3. Boston Bruins: 46 points, 21-5-4

They're continuing to pull away from the Rangers, and look like one of the NHL's latest dynasties. Consistent goalie play is helping this team become one of the NHL elite, but their lack of experience makes me rank them below Detroit.

4. New York Rangers: 44 points, 20-6-4

Good win in the SO vs. Carolina the other night, and then they followed it up with a 3-1 win Tuesday evening over a respectable team in Anaheim. They're still playing well, but just not well enough to keep up with Boston in the Eastern Conference.

5. Washington Capitals.........41 points, 19-10-3

Impressive win in OT after giving up a 2-goal lead to the weak Islanders last night. They're running away with an improved Southeast division.
