Penn State Scandal: Offers of Counseling Not Enough To Keep Team Moving Forward

New Penn State head football coach Tom Bradley has advised parents to help his players by getting their children some counseling due to the current scandal that has rocked the university, but the players need answers, not counseling as the team moves forward.

Answers to questions like, why was Joe Paterno fired and McQueary got to keep his job? What security measures will be taken to ensure the team is safe on and off the field at PSU and on the road?

As the Nittany Lions players look ahead to their important Big Ten matchup against Nebraska on Saturday at Beaver Stadium, the team needs to know it can trust the university going forward.

However, with the way the school has handled this mess thus far it seems like trusting the school to make the right decisions quickly and effectively would be difficult to do right now.

Counseling may help some of these players, but I doubt that is what they really need at this moment. These players follow a certain routine like all college football players do, and now, their world has been completely changed.

When Penn State goes on the road, they will likely be booed, crowds will probably shout rude things to them and the atmosphere will be more intense than the PSU players are used to.

These young men need answers, they need to know what the school is doing to help the team move forward and make the best out of an impressive football season so far.

Penn State is 8-1 (5-0 Big Ten) this season with their only loss coming to Alabama early in the season. 

They have a great shot to earn a BCS bow berth in January, most likely in the Rose Bowl. These players have worked very hard to get to this point and deserve a fair chance to make the most of this season.
