Jacoby Ford Injury: Update on Oakland Raiders WR's Foot Injury

Josh MartinNov 10, 2011

Jacoby Ford came off the field with a foot injury after making a spectacular 41-yard catch in the first quarter of the Oakland Raiders' Thursday night matchup with the San Diego Chargers. Ford had to be helped off the field, treading gingerly all the way to the sideline. The Silver and Black ended up scoring on the drive to go up 7-3 in this crucial AFC West tilt.

Fantasy Impact

Ford had been in the midst of a disappointingly unproductive season until last week, when he notched 105 receiving yards and his first touchdown of the season. If you were counting on Ford to put your fantasy team over the top, then you have much bigger problems to worry about than the severity of the knock to his ankle.

Who's the Backup?

Rookie sensation Denarius Moore should have no trouble picking up where Ford left off. Moore struggled a bit with injuries and inconsistency in October, but started off the month of November with a solid 61-yard day against the Broncos last weekend.

Devastation Scale

On a scale from 1 to 10, the loss of Ford registers around a four or a five. If there's any area of the team where the Raiders can withstand an injury, it's out wide, where they already sport speedsters like Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

The bigger impact, though, could come on special teams, where Ford had proven to be a dynamic return man. Other than that, though, the Silver and Black should survive this latest setback just fine.

Timeline for Return

There's no official word yet as to how long Ford might be out of action. However, it appears doubtful that he'll return for this game, as he had to be carted to the locker room from the sideline.
