Fantasy Football Week 16 Rankings: Quarterbacks

Michael WhooleyDec 15, 2008

Whether you’re playing for first place, fifth or just trying to avoid last, we’re sticking through to sweet, or bitter, end with you. We have another set of quarterback rankings and with possible new starters in Minnesota and Tampa Bay, as well as the re-emergence of one in Houston, we have gone through the list and made sure you’ll know who to start and who to sit.

So, check out the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 16 Quarterback Rankings.

--------------------

1. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) @ Detroit

The last four weeks, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had multiple-touchdown games and went over 230 passing yards each time despite playing against some decent defenses.

This week he’ll be playing against the Detroit Lions, who have a terrible defense and won’t be able to contain the Saints. Detroit ranks 21st in passing yards allowed and 32nd in points allowed, so it will be a good week for Brees and New Orleans.

Point Projection: 24 Points

--------------------

2. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) @ Jacksonville

The Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning have continued to play spectacularly, having won seven games in a row. Manning himself is hot as he’s got 595 passing yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the last two games. The Jaguars did manage to force two interceptions the last time these two teams met, so while Manning will have a good week, don’t expect a big outburst.

Point Projection: 22 Points

--------------------

3. Matt Cassel (New England Patriots) vs. Arizona

New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel played well last week despite the recent death of his father. Against the Oakland Raiders, Cassel was 18-of-30 for 218 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

While he won’t match those numbers this week against the Arizona Cardinals, he will have a good game. Arizona ranks 17th in passing yards allowed and 27th in points allowed.

Point Projection: 21 Points

--------------------

4. Kurt Warner (Arizona Cardinals) @ New England

Well, Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner is here for a reason. While dealing with the elements may not be ideal for Warner and the Cardinals, there’s nothing to indicate that he won’t accumulate a lot of points this week.

Last week when the team fell behind early, it completely abandoned the run as the Cardinals totaled just seven rushing attempts against the Vikings. Warner will have plenty of chances to throw in this game and should have no problem gathering a good amount of fantasy points.

Point Projection: 20 Points

--------------------

5. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) @ Tampa Bay

In the last two weeks, San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has thrown for 560 yards with five touchdowns and just one interception. The Chargers are scoring points despite the complete lack of a real running game, and most of that’s been done with Rivers. This week he’ll face a tougher defense in Tampa Bay, so temper your expectations a bit. Still, he should have a decent enough game to warrant starting.

Point Projection: 19 Points

--------------------

6. Jay Cutler (Denver Broncos) vs. Buffalo

With five touchdowns and three interceptions in his last three games, Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler is finishing out the season strong. And with all the injuries the team has at the running back position, he pretty much has no other option.

The Buffalo Bills started the season with one of the better defenses in the league, but are coming off a game where they gave up 31 points to the New York Jets. Cutler may throw a pick or two in this game, but he’ll still get his points.

Point Projection: 18 Points

--------------------

7. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) @ Chicago

The Green Bay Packers have experienced a meltdown this season, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not to blame. In the last three games, he’s thrown six touchdowns and three interceptions.

When he faced the Chicago Bears in Week 11, he was 23-of-30 for 227 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The Bears are terrible against the pass, as they rank 28th in the league in passing yards allowed. So Rodgers should have another good game.

Point Projection: 18 Points
