Manny Pacquiao: Why Pacquaio Is Best Hero in Sports

The end is near for Manny Pacquiao, and it's been one hell of a run. In fact, he has the opportunity to go out in the most amazing way any boxer ever has. 

Every hero needs a villain, and Pacquiao's legacy will be lauded as much for his talents as for the shortcomings of the nemesis he may never get to fight. 

Never mind that Manny Pacquiao is already a hero to his people for the generosity he has shown back home. Or in the effort he has given in becoming a congressman in the Philippines. The man just keeps piling things onto his plate in order to help anyone he can. 

But that is not what we will concentrate on here. The kind of hero we mean is the kind that is made on the field of battle, or in this case the ring of champions. 

There has been a classic tale unfolding for a couple years now. It has pitted Manny Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather in an all-out brawl for public support. 

It is clear who is winning that bout at the moment. We may never know the whole truth behind the scenes of ongoing negotiations between the two camps, but Pacquiao is the clear favorite in the hearts and minds of most boxing fans. 

Money May has been seen as a brash fighter that will do everything in his power to not fight Pacquiao. Meanwhile, Pac-Man continues to dispatch all that come his way. 

Mayweather gave us hope in a promise to fight Pacquiao May 5. For many, the promise that actually came from the mouth of Leonard Ellerbe is just too good to be true.

Soon, Pacquiao will dispatch one of the only boxers that has given him any trouble, and the only fighter left will be the one that can talk the best of games but will never step in the ring with Pac-Man.

After that becomes clear, Pacquiao will step into retirement without the least bit of regret. The fight that never happens? That will fall on Mayweather. Whether that is just or not doesn't matter, that is how this tale will unfold. 

The roles have already been cast. Pacquiao is the fans hero, and Mayweather his foil. The only thing that will change that is a fight between the two, and we all know that will never happen.
