Georgia Football Recruiting 2012: 5 Prime Time Targets for the Bulldogs

Edwin WeathersbyNov 10, 2011

The Georgia Bulldogs 2012 recruiting cycle has been steady. They have several commitments from some very, very talented players. Yet, there still are some great prospects out there that UGA has its eye on.

For this read, I'm going to give you five top tier players that Georgia desperately wants, who also have a mutual interest in playing in Athens.

So with that said, let's talk some UGA recruiting!

5. Tyriq McCord, DE

1 of 5

McCord is a 6'3", 225-pound DE that combines good quickness with solid athleticism. He does have some one trick pony to his game, but once he adds a few more pass rushing moves, look out.

USC, Florida, Miami, South Carolina and Georgia are the main schools in the race.

With Georgia using a 3-4 scheme, McCord would be an ideal fit to kick out to stand up OLB and become a great pass rushing specialist for the Dawgs.

4. Nelson Agholor, ATH

2 of 5

Here's another player who's recruitment is still very wide open. Nelson Agholor is regarded as perhaps the most athletic player in the country and he could end up at either WR, CB, FS or RB.

6'2", 180-pounds, Agholor has great speed, COD, quickness, agility and more. He has offers from the likes of Florida, Miami, USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia among many, many more.

Georgia is interested, but it remains to be seen just how interested Agholor is in playing in Athens.

3. Jordan Jenkins, DE

3 of 5

"The Freak" is talked up as the best player in the Peach State this year. He's a 6'3", 250-pound DE that can also kick out to stand up OLB in a 30 front scheme like Georgia's.

Jenkins' recruitment by Georgia has been a roller coaster. Frankly, it seems like the Dawgs are chasing him, as he is looking to leave the state. Alabama is his leader right now, with Florida at No.2.

But this weekend, Jenkins says he will visit Athens and UGA needs to pull out all the stops to land him.

2. Avery Young, OT

4 of 5

Young has family ties to Georgia, as he is the cousin of former Dawg LB/SS Thomas Davis.

The Bulldogs are recruiting Young hard and the thought of signing two five-star OTs in Young and current commit John Theus is a grand coup. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Florida seem to be the main four schools in the race.

6'6", 275-pounds, Young says he plans to visit Athens on November 19th to check out Georgia up close and personal.

1. Keith Marshall, RB

5 of 5

Rumors have circulated for awhile that Georgia has been the leader for Marshall. However, when he called his Florida trip "a 9.9 out of 10" that was a head turner for me.

Toss in the fact that Notre Dame is on him very hard, plus North Carolina and South Carolina among a bevy of others, you see Georgia's going to have to work hard for Marshall.

I'm talking as hard as they did last year when they had to go head to head vs. Alabama for Isaiah Crowell. Marshall plans on making his choice next month, as he likely will graduate early from his school.

He's the clear cut top target for Mark Richt.
