NFL Picks Week 10: Struggling Teams That Will Continue to Fall

Patrick ClarkeNov 10, 2011

Week 10 signals the start of the second half of what will likely be a brutal season for some of the NFL's bottom feeders.

Teams plagued by injuries or just lacking talent have begun to emerge at the bottom of the league standings. The last eight weeks of the season should prove that's where they belong.

Here are three struggling teams that will kick off their disappointing season conclusion with a loss in Week 10:

Indianapolis Colts (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars)

The Colts have been absolutely dreadful in 2011. Whether it's as a result of the lack of Peyton Manning or talent in general, 0-9 speaks for itself.

Indy will host division rival Jacksonville in Week 10. The team will attempt to avoid it's 10th consecutive loss, while quieting the Andrew Luck chatter.

The only hope the Colts have is if Curtis Painter can significantly outplay Blaine Gabbert. Indy's D has been nonexistent this season and the offense will need to have an enormous day in order to notch win No. 1.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. Houston Texans)

After a promising 4-2 start to 2011, the Bucs find themselves at .500 midway through their season schedule.

A loss at home to the surging Texans would send them to 4-5 and put them in danger of missing out on the playoffs once again.

Tampa's pass attack is virtually all it has going at this point. The Bucs' ground attack and defense have been below average in the past few weeks, with their defense ranking somewhere around 27th in the league through nine weeks.

Houston is hot, Tampa is not, and the Bucs will lose a grinder at home.

New England Patriots (vs. New York Jets)

Who would have thought that Tom Brady and the Pats would be on this list? No smart NFL fans would have before the last two outings from Belichick and company.

A road loss to Pittsburgh and a last-second home loss to the streaking Giants has New England on a losing streak. They are in danger of falling to 5-4 on the year this Sunday.

The Jets have won three consecutive games. What's more, they would love to get a leg up on their rival and avenge an early-season loss on the road at New England.

This matchup, like the Bucs-Texans, features two teams trending in opposite directions. Look for that to continue as Rex Ryan's club puts the overrated Pats' hype to bed for good in Week 10.
