NFL Week 10 Picks: Bold Predictions for Week's Biggest Upsets

Andrew KulhaNov 10, 2011

The Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles are all on major upset alert for Week 10 of the 2011 NFL season.

Whether it's a tough matchup, a lack of momentum or just the potential of the other team, I would be worried if I were a fan of these three teams.

Come Week 10 of any NFL season, we generally have a good feeling on which teams can be dangerous, especially in an upset situation.

These teams may not be in the playoff picture, but they can certainly impact it. The spoiler role is a role that many teams love to take on in the second half of the season.

If they can't make the playoffs, why should their opponents?

There is a ton that plays into upsets, but here are my predictions for the biggest of the week.

Tennessee Titans

Isn't it odd that, coming in at 2-6 to face the 4-4 Titans, somehow the Carolina Panthers still seem like the favorites in this game?

To me, it comes down to offense, as I don't expect either team's defense to play a huge role in this game.

Cam Newton and the Panthers can be downright explosive, and they beat the Titans in every single offensive category. If the Titans want to keep Newton off the field, they are going to have to control the clock and run the ball.

Chris Johnson has only made it over 100 yards once this season, and that was against the Cleveland Browns. I expect the Panthers will improve on their 133.2 yards per game on the ground against this anemic running attack.

In the end, that will be the key to victory for the young Panthers.

Detroit Lions

The Lions have to go to Chicago, which is never easy, to play a team that can tie them for second place in the NFC North with a win.

The Bears have something to play for, and that's saying a lot after a start of the season that had the Packers and Lions running away with the division and Wild Card.

In the end, this will come down to the running game, which is fitting for the NFC North. Chicago has the distinct advantage with duel-threat Matt Forte in the backfield.

Detroit is averaging 95.2 yards per game on the ground and give up 137.6. That's never a good formula on the road and in the division, and It will lead to their downfall.

Philadelphia Eagles

Just when we thought the Eagles could potentially pull out of their disastrous season, they slipped and fell against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, all but proving that they cannot handle the pressure.

The Arizona Cardinals may not be a great team, but they can make big plays, and that seems to be a huge problem for the Eagles defense.

For me, this doesn't come down to statistics. It comes down to heart, and the Eagles have made it very hard for me to trust in theirs.
