NFL Week 10 Picks: Playing Devil's Advocate for Week's Heavy Favorites
It’s easy to pick the favorites every single week in the NFL. The odds-makers see the NFL in three levels.
The first level has those elite teams that are almost favored in every week. The second level has the mediocre teams that have a close spread. And the third has the horrible teams like the Indianapolis Colts.
This week, the NFL has a full slate of games, as no one is on a bye week. There are a good number of games that have favored teams with a big points spread. But, what I’m here to tell you, is that every one of those point spreads cannot be covered.

And here’s why.
San Diego Chargers (-7) vs. Oakland Raiders
San Diego is coming into this game on a two-game losing streak against a bad Kansas City team and a really good Green Bay Packers team. But somehow the odds-makers decided to make the Chargers a seven-point favorite.
How?
What have the Chargers done in the past two weeks to show that this team can not only cover a seven-point spread, but just win a game?
Take the Raiders today, as they do not have a healthy Darren McFadden, but they have a running back as good in Michael Bush. The Raiders are getting better in moving the ball through the air with Carson Palmer. It’s the Raiders in an upset this week.
Dallas Cowboys (-5) vs. Buffalo Bills
Dallas is a team that looks great one week, but then looks horrible the next week. Point in case, they looked great against St. Louis then horrible against Philadelphia. Last week they looked great against Seattle, but will look bad against Buffalo.
Buffalo has the potential league MVP in running back Fred Jackson, and they will use him to dominate the Cowboys defense this week.
The Cowboys are a .500 team this year and this week it will show, as the Cowboys are dealing with injuries on their defense, primarily to Sean Lee and to one of their best offensive weapons, Miles Austin.
Baltimore Ravens (-7) at Seattle Seahawks
Baltimore had a great last-minute win last week in Pittsburgh. It was a win that they needed to have, after playing pretty poorly over the last few weeks.
But, this week on the road in Seattle, where it is tough for a road team to come in and win, it will be hard for Baltimore to cover this game, if not win outright.
Do not put your trust in the Ravens this week, as the carry over from last week’s game will prevent this team from playing at the elite level that they showed against Pittsburgh last week.
Three teams that all have a five or more point spread, that will fail to cover this week. Save your money and your survivor poll picks for another team, like Houston (-3) at Tampa Bay.
