Pacquiao vs. Marquez Odds: Pac-Man Has No Intention of Going the Distance

Wes ODonnellNov 10, 2011

Manny Pacquiao hasn't lost a fight since 2005.

He also hasn't knocked out an opponent since 2009.

Now, almost two years later, Pac-Man wants another KO on his resume.

See, as the favorite in this fight (-800, according to Sportsbook) Pacquiao is expected to win.

He's already defeated Juan Manuel Marquez once by split decision, and since that bout, the Filipino (and world No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter) has only gotten better.

Not just better, but remarkably better.

Since the last time Pacquiao and Marquez stepped in the ring together, the older Mexican fighter has made it known that he believes he was robbed in the previous fight.

As Pacquiao gets ready to wind down his career in the next two years, he's looking to tie up any loose ends left in his legacy.

Those loose ends would include fighting Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (which seems impossible) and leaving no doubt as to the victor of his trilogy of fights with Marquez.

In order to do that, Pacquiao needs to put Marquez down.

Last month, the Los Angeles Times ran an article about Pacquiao's training.

When asked about knocking out Marquez, trainer Freddie Roach said, "That's what we're training him for."

His conditioning coach, Alex Ariza, noticed a different intensity in Pacquiao in preparation for this fight.

He went on to say this: "He wants to be as big as he was against Miguel Cotto (the last fighter he knocked out). But Cotto was the equivalent of a linebacker, and Marquez is a free safety. I think he just wants to kill Marquez."

Pacquiao has been noted as a nice guy overall, sometimes even taking criticism for being too nice.

Marquez isn't going to get that treatment, not after all the complaining and campaigning he did for a third fight.

Pacquiao won't be in the ring for the third time with Marquez just looking for a win.

Those days have passed.
