Week 10 Start Em, Sit Em: Looking at Stars Who Should Ride the Pine

John RozumNov 9, 2011

Regardless of their matchup or consistent performance thus far in 2011, there are some stars that must sit the bench. The follow three are stars, but also have been dealing with some injury issues.

And even if they suit up this week, it's still a good idea to bench them because you can't expect much production immediately after returning.

Ahmad Bradshaw: RB, Giants (at 49ers)

According to Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger, Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw has yet to return to practice:

"

"Running back Ahmad Bradshaw remains out of action with a stress fracture in his foot, though he's improving. Last week, Bradshaw was on a scooter and wasn't putting any weight on his foot, so walking is an improvement."

"

That said, Bradshaw must take a seat this week. Now, hypothetically speaking let's say Bradshaw does play in Week 10. How much can we really expect him to produce?

For one, he's won't be 100 percent and two, the 49ers have the NFL's No. 1 ranked rush defense. Therefore, only a fully healthy Bradshaw would be worth starting, not one that still needs to improve.

Darren McFadden: RB, Raiders (at Chargers)

For those that were hoping Oakland would see the return of Darren McFadden this week, well, that's not gonna happen.

In an article by Vittorio Tafur of The San Francisco Gate, McFadden is out once again:

"

"Darren McFadden will miss a second straight game Thursday because of his sprained foot. According to team sources, Michael Bush will start against the Chargers."

"

It's a smart move for the Raiders who are still in the playoff hunt thanks to the average AFC West. However, fantasy owners need to make a change and quick, because not only is kickoff between Oakland and San Diego on Thursday, but the fantasy regular season is closing fast.

That said, if you're still confident about making the postseason, hang on to McFadden because you never know when he could return.

But, also become familiar with some RBs in free agency as a backup plan.

Andre Johnson: WR, Texans (at Buccaneers)

Perhaps the most optimistic of the three stars listed here is Texans WR Andre Johnson. However, don't jump the gun on giving him the start just yet.

According to the Sports Network at Fox News, nothing is certain yet with Johnson:

"

"Andre Johnson was "very upbeat" after a workout on Monday, head coach Gary Kubiak said, but his status for the remainder of the week remains up in the air."

"

Keep a very close eye on Johnson throughout the week, because even if Johnson does play, the Texans can't take any chances of him re-aggravating the injury.

So regardless of whether Andre receives any playing time or not, he should remain on your bench once again. However, don't drop him because if he returns he will produce. Patience is the key.
