Bowl Predictions 2011: LSU, Stanford and More Locks to Play in a BCS Bowl

Eric BowmanNov 9, 2011

The projections for where teams will play in January change with every week, but you just know that some teams aren't going to miss out on a chance to play in one of the biggest games of the year.

The goal for every team is to play for the title, but only two teams achieve this. The next best goal is to play in a BCS bowl game, which always does well for a team's publicity.

There is still time for teams to choke away their chances, but for now, the top teams are locks to play in January.

Here are my Week 11 predictions as to who plays whom in the BCS.

Allstate BCS National Championship: LSU vs. Stanford

The Tigers are No. 1 in the country, and they will stay there for the rest of the season.

Stanford will thrive with Andrew Luck calling the shots, and with a win over Oregon on Saturday, they will finish the season as undefeated Pac-12 champions.

The best defense vs. the best quarterback in the nation would make the title game one for the ages.

Discover Orange Bowl: Clemson vs. Cincinnati

This is the easiest pick for the bowl games because the Bearcats are the only team in the Big East that is managing to not choke, and the Tigers are the best team in the ACC.

Even though the Tigers slipped and lost to Georgia Tech two weeks ago, they will still hang on and win the ACC since their next few conference games aren't that difficult.

There would certainly be a lot of offense in this game, as both teams are averaging 38 or more points per game.

Allstate Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. Boise State

The Broncos will just miss out on the title game, but everyone will greatly anticipate this matchup. The Crimson Tide are one of the best teams in the country, and their No. 1 overall defense isn't going to change.

Should Boise State do the unthinkable and beat Alabama, it would create utter chaos in the BCS. Everyone has been dying to see the Broncos take on a legitimate opponent, and such would be the case against Alabama.

This game would easily be the highest-watched BCS bowl game outside of the championship game.

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Vizio: Michigan State vs. Oregon

The Ducks will gladly accept the invite to the Rose Bowl after Stanford is chosen to play in the title game. Michigan State is a lock to win its division, and the Spartans defense will carry them to victory in the first ever Big Ten championship game.

Michigan State's No. 2 overall defense would be put to the test against a speedy Oregon offense, which would make for a fantastic game.

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Houston

This would be a shootout all night long, as both teams have extremely talented offenses. The current No. 1 and No. 2 overall offenses going against one another would certainly create fireworks.

The Cougars will crash the BCS after cruising through their schedule and benefiting from other teams losing late in the season.

The Cowboys will make a claim for the title, but the pollsters will chose Andrew Luck and Stanford instead, leaving Brandon Weeden to try and out-duel Case Keenum.
