Notre Dame Football: Who's Uniforms Will Be Worse, Notre Dame or Maryland?

Maybe Notre Dame is beginning to take hints that the Maryland Terrapins are dropping. Change up your uniforms to ridiculous combinations and it will distract the media from asking questions about a struggling season.

Maryland is a horrible 2-7 and yet they are still relevant because of their wacky uniforms. Nobody is talking about their 1-5 conference record, everybody wants to know what hideous combination they'll be wearing this week. 

Before this week, all of the talks that involved the Irish football team had to do with underachieving and a possible Brian Kelly firing. This week those talks have died down because the Irish have released a new uniform that they will be wearing against Maryland this Saturday.

The helmets are 24-carat gold leaf and have a bright green shamrock on both sides. It has drawn a lot of different reactions around the college football world but Brian Kelly says the only opinion that matters is the players.

"No, look, the only people I care about relative to the uniforms are the 105 guys that were in this room when we showed it to them, and they were excited," Brian Kelly said. "All due respect to everybody else that has an opinion, I really don't care about theirs, I care about what my players think, and our players love it. We're going to stay with those kinds of things that still fall within our color schemes and our logoing, and kids like that stuff. So if our kids like it, then I can tell you I'm certain that the recruits like it, as well. And that's really the only people that measure for me relative to who likes them and who doesn't like them."

As for the uniforms, they will wear green jerseys and white cleats. Pretty much the same thing they wore against Army last season in the game that was held in Yankee Stadium.

The uniforms could be a lot worse as we have seen some that have made the game hard to watch without bringing up your lunch.

Which brings me to Maryland and their uniforms that have yet to be impressive since they began wearing them against Miami in Week 1. 

We already know that the Irish will have the better uniforms in this game. But the real question is who is going to play better?

If the uniforms help Maryland stay competitive and help the Irish stop turning the ball over, I'm all for it.

If we see the same sloppy play from both teams as they're both wearing uniforms that are even uglier to look at then Brian Kelly may have some more explaining to do.
