Liverpool FC: 5 Players Under Comolli's Radar for the Reds in January
Although reports in tabloids don't really claim whether a player on Liverpool FC's radar is a Damien Comolli choice or a Kenny Dalglish one, since the players named in the following slides are all from outside England, I have used the headline to claim basically the five possible players who could be possible targets for the club in January and are mainly under the supervision of Reds scouts around the world.
Gaston Ramirez from Bologna
1 of 5The fact that Liverpool are scouting Gaston Ramirez is not really a secret anymore. Although after Liverpool FC have reaped extremely handsome benefits after the recruitment of Luis Suarez and then went on to sign Sebastien Coates on deadline day of last summer transfer window, the Reds have been linked with almost any Uruguayan footballer of name and with South Americans more often than ever before.
However, the sources suggest that links with Ramirez are serious. The footy website Whoscored.com also has a damning statistic according to their experts. They found Ramirez strong on eight out of nine grounds; the one they didn't was unfortunately the one Liverpool need the most: finishing.
Xherdan Shaquiri from FC Basel
2 of 5After almost every good international performance, Shaquiri gets linked with a host of English clubs—most notably after his recent hat trick. Dubbed as one of the best talents ever produced in Switzerland, this attacking midfielder could very well be on Liverpool's radar after being linked with the player numerous times in the past.
Marco Reus from Borussia Monchengladbach
3 of 5Touted as one of the most promising talents from Germany in recent times, Reus was speculated in The Kop blog post to be a good fit for Liverpool, and there are also the popular links linking him to Arsenal. Reus, with his better goal-scoring rate, could end up in Anfield easily because he still has just €18 million as his release clause, which could be far less than what many other potential stars of the day could cost.
Also, Liverpool and Monchengladbach share a very good rapport which could be an advantage for the Reds if both clubs really want to do business on the player in the coming transfer window.
Ryad Boudebouz from Sochaux
4 of 5Ryad Boudebouz almost joined Liverpool this summer after he had welcomed links with the club, however the Reds for some reason settled for his English counterparts.
Given Damien Comolli's French connections and Boudebouz's good goal-scoring run considering his profile as an attacking midfielder, Liverpool could very well recruit this Algeria international.
Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica
5 of 5This Argentine, who plays for Benfica in Portugal, has received rave reviews after his consistently superb performances for the club.
Earlier this year, Liverpool (April) and Manchester United (October) have been linked with the player. With Champions League an added attraction, Gaitan could easily prefer the Red Devils even though the UEFA rules mean that having played in the Champions League this season Gaitan may be prohibited in the competition this year.
However, this Argentina international could be a Red if Liverpool show intent and bid for this 23-year-old and Manchester United don't, which seems quite possible with a plethora of options available for the club.
