Pacquiao vs. Marquez: 5 Reasons the Mega Fight Is a Must Watch
Whether casual fight fans realize it or not, this is an important fight. It isn't just because it is the third in a trilogy. It is much bigger than that; Manny Pacquiao is already an all-time great and this is one of a very small group of fighters that have ever given Pac-man any problems.
Here are five reasons you must watch these two gladiators battle on Saturday, November 12th.
Excitement
1 of 5These two guys are going to fight, and they are going to trade. The previous two fights have proved that to us. In the wake of the last two boxing pay-per-views, boxing fans should appreciate two fighters that will trade punches with reckless abandon.
Check out the highlights of Pacquiao vs. Marquez II; it was a thrilling bout, if part three can be half as good, paying fans will have received their monies worth.
Greatness
2 of 5No matter what happens on Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao is going to go down as one of the greatest fighters of his era. His success through multiple weight classes is almost unprecedented and fight fans should take advantage of any opportunity to see him fight live.
Pac-man is a future Hall of Famer.
Rivalry
3 of 5Rivalries are the best thing that ever happened to sports. They are about respect, fear and parity for and with an opponent. Nothing is more thrilling for fans.
Every great fighter needs a rivalry to help fans identify with their greatness. Pacquiao has a few rivals, but his battles with Marquez are right near the top.
Culture
4 of 5Only soccer surpasses boxing in regards to sports and their cultural relevance and passion. Pacquiao is the most famous Filipino in the world today and possibly ever. Throughout his career, he has made a habit of besting the best Mexican fighters in the world.
Pacquiao was once known as the "Mexicutioner", a nickname he has since tried to distance himself from. Marquez is a proud Mexican fighter, who believes he has already beaten Pacquiao, and would love to become the second Mexican fighter to own an official victory.
Stakes
5 of 5The stakes are high, like the title of my favorite De La Soul album. A loss here would all but kill any chance to see Pacquiao take on Mayweather in a superfight.
With Mayweather already having destroyed Marquez, the public wouldn't really be eager to see them fight again. So, the prize fight fans have been waiting on, probably wouldn't happen and it would leave Floyd and others with a lack of direction and purpose.
You should really watch this fight.
