Alabama Football: Do Crimson Tide Fans Pull for Anyone Playing Okie St.?
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) There is no doubt that Crimson Tide fans still hold hope for their team to have a shot at redemption, so is their second favorite team anyone playing Oklahoma State?
Or what about whoever is playing Stanford?
Clearly, Tide fans will spend the rest of the season scoreboard watching.
So as ironic as it may seem, Alabama fans will now be actually pulling for Tommy Tuberville, the former reviled head coach at Auburn who beat Alabama for six straight years and is now at Texas Tech.
When I mentioned that to Alabama fans immediately after the LSU game, one fan said, "I might throw up afterward, but I'd kiss that jerk on the lips if he could beat Oklahoma State."
So I guess at best, that means they can at least tolerate pulling for him.
They will also end up pulling for Iowa State and Oklahoma.
But the Tide fans have no real beef with either of those teams or coaches.
And as for Stanford's opponents, it may be the first time ever that Bama fans will pull for Notre Dame, if Oregon and California doesn't knock off the Stanford Cardinals.
With games still remaining against Mississippi State and Auburn, we shouldn't even have to mention Georgia Southern. Job one is for the Crimson Tide to take care of their own business first.
But of course, as much as the Alabama fans will be pulling for their own team, they will be scoreboard watching and still have to hope for a little help, even from teams they would have never thought of supporting before.
