Penn State Scandal: Board of Trustees Must Vote to Fire Joe Paterno by Friday
You can’t stall with this decision. You have to seal Joe Paterno’s fate now.
The board of trustees is going to meet in the coming days to decide the future of Paterno
The Penn State football coach is currently engulfed in potentially the biggest scandal in the history of college sports, and the whole country is demanding answers.
We don’t have time to wait.
Paterno cancelled his weekly press conference on Tuesday because he isn’t prepared for the onslaught of questions that would ensue. Too bad. The longer we are left to speculate, the angrier and more skeptical we get.
People want answers; we want an explanation for why Jerry Sandusky was allowed to be around young kids after Paterno heard about allegations that he was taking a shower with a young boy.
The New York Times has new information on receivers coach Mike McQueary, the grad assistant who allegedly informed Paterno in 2002 of Jerry Sandusky showering with a boy. Paterno has publicly said he wasn’t told about the graphic nature of the event. It sounds like that isn’t the case:
"On Tuesday a person with knowledge of Mr. McQueary’s version of events called Mr. Paterno’s claim into question. The person said that Mr. McQueary had told those in authority the explicit details of what he saw, including in his face-to-face meeting with Mr. Paterno the day after the incident.
"
This story reeks of a cover-up, and the more information that comes out, the more you feel like Paterno needs to be fired.
I know there are three regular season games and potentially, a BCS bowl game still on the slate, but this is far more important. The lack or moral standards shown by Paterno is too much to ignore.
They can’t let Paterno squirm around the issue as he pretends to be focused on Nebraska. A decision to fire him must be made by the end of the week so the program can begin a rebuilding process that will take years to fix.
Waiting is the worst possible scenario right now. Swift justice must be served NOW.
