Penn State Scandal: Will Joe Paterno Lead Lions onto Field Against Nebraska?

Joe Paterno left his house this afternoon to get to Tuesday's practice. The fact that he is still able to mold and shape this team is beyond me.

That sentiment is shared my many, making it clear that Joe Paterno will not be at this Saturday's game against Nebraska. 

We are stuck in a very tumultuous time for Penn State football. The once lauded Paterno was supposed to give his weekly press conference on Tuesday. The fact that the university cancelled it without say from Paterno speaks volumes. 

Paterno has been the face of the university for decades. For most, when you think of Paterno, you think immediately of Penn State football and vice versa. 

That fact is problematic for the proud university that wants to wipe the stain that has been left by Jerry Sandusky and the recent deplorable scandal. Paterno failed to act like a human and make sure the police were called into action. 

That fact has many mad at a man that was once raised as a football god. The New York Daily News reports the Penn State Board of Trustees is in discussions about Paterno's future at the university. 

Pete Thamel of The New York Times reports Paterno is indeed on his way out. 

The fact is this type of ousting could take days or weeks to take place. What would be best for Paterno and Penn State is if the coach himself is convinced that he needs to step down prior to the Nebraska game. 

The fans could care less if he is in the coaches box and not on the sidelines. It is very clear that alumni and supporters are done with the current leadership representing the Nittany Lions. That includes the man that has been the face of Penn State.

Now his face makes fans sick. He lost his privilege of leading young men onto the field of battle. 

It will be hard to do, but Joe Paterno must not be allowed to coach one more game for a program that used to be the most honorable in the nation.
