Week 10 Waiver Wire: Players You Absolutely Must Avoid

Ryan PhillipsNov 8, 2011

It has gotten to the point in the fantasy football season where you need to start making decisions for the home stretch and the playoffs. That will include some late-season additions who could end up getting starts as certain guys start to land on the disabled list.

There are two guys out there who might look like good pickups, but actually won't do a whole lot for you.

Andy Dalton has been a fantastic game manager for the Cincinnati Bengals so far this season. While the Bengals are 6-2 and Dalton has been solid, he isn't a good starting option for fantasy football. ESPN has Dalton ranked as the 21st quarterback fantasy wise.

Again, the rookie signal caller has been great in a football sense on the field, but that doesn't make him a good fantasy football player yet. He has developed some nice chemistry with fellow rookie A.J. Green, but he isn't worth an add. Dalton has 12 touchdowns against seven interceptions and has thrown for 1,696 yards through eight games.

The Bengals are going to continue to try and win with defense and their running game and not expose Dalton to anything that could cause him to fall apart. That's bad news for anyone eyeing him in fantasy football.

Eddie Royal had two catches for 25 yards and a touchdown for the Denver Broncos against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Royal also added an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown, showing some explosiveness.

But Royal's upside is severely limited by Tim Tebow's inaccuracy at quarterback. He is averaging just 3.3 catches for 26.6 yards in Tebow's three starts this season. Don't expect those averages to go up, as Tebow is completing just 46.4 percent of his passes and is averaging just 152.3 yards passing in his three starts.
