Pacquiao vs Marquez: Why This Fight Will Surpass First Two
Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are set to fight for the third time, but this fight will be much better than the first two.
The first fight between these two was very close, and was decided to be a draw. Marquez thought that he had won the fight and he made no effort to conceal that fact. Talking about being robbed, Marquez was looking for a rematch.
Pacquiao gave him that rematch, and while neither could be knocked out, there was finally a decision. The judges ruled Pacquiao the better fighter, yet Marquez once again claimed that he had bested Pac-Man in the ring.
Because of these disputes and some disrespect from Marquez, as there is quite a bit of bad blood between these combatants, this fight is highly anticipated.
We may finally see a knock out in this fight. And when I say "may," I mean "will."
Pacquiao is going to floor Marquez in this exciting fight. While it will not be an easy win by any means, Pac-Man will surely show us why he's the best boxer in the world once again.
Marquez has had to gain a lot of weight for this fight—roughly 10-15 pounds. This is the heaviest he has ever been for a fight, and that is going to work in Pacquiao's favor.
The last time Marquez broke 140 pounds was against Floyd Mayweather, in fight that he lost in unanimous decision (120-107, 119-108, 118-109).
That fight was not particularly close, because Marquez was slower with that extra weight. As he is now, even heavier than before, his speed will come into question, and will lead to his defeat.
Marquez is also in the twilight of his career, at age 38. He does not have the stamina he used to, and that will hurt him in the later rounds.
While it would seem that Pacquiao has a clear advantage, he has a weakness of his own—rust. Pacquiao has not been fighting a lot recently, and this will be just his second fight in 2011. This will lead to a slow start for Pacquiao, in which Marquez can use his new-found muscle to punish Pac-Man.
This fight will seem to be going Marquez's way until Pacquiao finds his rhythm, and when that happens, Marquez should just quit. Pac-Man will take over in the end and leave the judges without a decision, knocking out Marquez in one of the final rounds.
This is going to be a fight for the ages, with Pac-Man coming out on top. This fight will surely best the first two, and we will finally have a true winner.
