NFL Week 10 Picks: Predicting Teams Due for a Loss

Ryan PhillipsNov 8, 2011

There are some great matchups in Week 10 of the NFL season, but there are two teams currently riding high who are due to drop games this weekend. Surprisingly, both will be playing at home.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are 5-3 after sneaking by the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football 30-24. The Bears are on a three-game winning streak, but Chicago fans shouldn't be too encouraged by their win from Week 9. The Eagles played an incredibly sloppy game and threw away multiple opportunities to win it.

In Week 10, the Bears welcome the 6-2 Lions to Soldier Field, and I don't think Chicago can avenge its 24-13 loss from Week 5. The Lions just have too many weapons offensively and their defensive front has been steadily improving despite ranking 28th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed (137.6 per game).

The Lions will be coming off a bye following their 45-10 thrashing of the Denver Broncos in Week 8. I think Detroit will be rested and ready to go, while the Bears still have a lot of questions to answer after a shaky win over the Eagles.

The Bears will go down in Week 10.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2011 NFL season. They are 6-2 and have won five straight following a 24-17 road win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 9.

This weekend the Bengals will face the 6-3 Pittsburgh Steelers, who will be smarting after dropping a game to the Baltimore Ravens for the second time this season. The Steelers are undoubtedly one of the AFC's best teams, but they just can't seem to solve the Ravens.

The Bengals will be at home and have the league's second-best run defense, allowing just 84.5 yards per game. But the Steelers have a great defense of their own; they rank third in the NFL, allowing just 280.2 yards per game.

Rookie quarterback Andy Dalton has been great this season so far for Cincinnati, but against Pittsburgh's attacking defense, I just don't see him being able to withstand the test. The Steelers will end the Bengals' winning ways this weekend.
