Week 10 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Michael Bush and Others to Start

John RozumNov 8, 2011

With the playoffs nearing, there's a constant need to know who to start and when. Well, with Week 10 starting earlier now because of the Thursday night games, the chaos just begins sooner that's all.

To that end, there are players each week who are on the fence in terms of deciding to start or sit them. So to help ease your decision-making, here are four players to start in Week 10.

Michael Bush: RB, Oakland (at San Diego)

According to Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times, RB Darren McFadden didn't participate in a walk-through on Monday:

"

"Running back Darren McFadden (mid-foot sprain) was not on the field for a walk-through as an early part of preparation for San Diego."

"

So with that in mind, even if McFadden does suit up this week, it wouldn't be a smart decision to give him the rock very often. Coming off an ankle injury, he needs to get his footing back as well as the feel for the game speed.

Therefore, regardless of McFadden's status, Michael Bush should earn your start this week. He's arguably just as good, and together they're even better.

Nonetheless, the Bolts are No. 18 against the rush anyway, so Bush will get you some good fantasy points in Week 10 even if McFadden gets some carries.

Jordy Nelson: WR, Green Bay (vs Minnesota)

Pending on how deep your league runs will obviously determine whether Jordy Nelson should get the start. However, if you happen to be on the fence with him, because he can be hit or miss, give him the nod this week.

The last time Green Bay played the Vikings, Nelson only scored around 5-10 points (depending on whether your league gives points per reception), which isn't all that much coming from a Packers WR.

Needless to say, Nelson will increase that point total at home this week as he does perform more consistently in terms of receiving yards when at home (nothing less than 77 yards at Lambeau this year).

Give Jordy the start because it is a favorable matchup and if your league gets points for receptions as well, then he should be an automatic starter.

DeAngelo Williams: RB, Carolina (vs Tennessee)

Believe it or not, but the Carolina Panthers rank in the Top 10 in rush and pass offense. And although they're more known for passing offense, their ground game is arguably just as effective.

DeAngelo Williams leads the Panthers with 363 yards, however, just one rush TD. Obviously Cam Newton has taken the spotlight as a dual-threat QB, but the Titans allow almost 130 rush yards per game.

So, even with Newton getting his on the ground, Tennessee won't be able to stop Carolina's dynamic offense and Williams will have his best game this season. He's not your No. 1 RB, but is a solid No. 2/flex option.

Brandon Jacobs: RB, NY Giants (at San Francisco)

Aside from Ahmad Bradshaw, if the New York Giants want to have success on offense this week, giving the rock to Brandon Jacobs is a must.

Even if Bradshaw returns to his normal duties, using Jacobs in addition will provide a more sound attack versus the 49ers No. 1 ranked rush defense. Not to mention Jacobs also has the ability to catch the rock out of the backfield as well.

And especially in the red zone, Jacobs' size and power will be useful. San Fran has an excellent red-zone defense and trying to bust through them with just Bradshaw won't work.

Having a solid two-back tandem is what has helped the Giants get to 6-2, so no matter what the case is with Bradshaw, start Jacobs because his services against a stout defense will be greatly needed.
