LaVar Arrington Video: PSU Alum Talks Jerry Sandusky Scandal on SportsCenter
LaVar Arrington was a prized recruit coming from the Pittsburgh area high school, Aliquippa.
He was talked to by the Penn State defensive coaching staff that was led by Defensive Coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
He appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter and was asked a number of questions, like what it was like being coached by Sandusky, did he know if anything was going on and if head coach Joe Paterno should resign.
But what was barley touched was what LaVar wrote in his blog on the Washington Post:
"I don’t know if these accusations are true or not, so I will wait to see what happens in court, but I am shocked and surprised this has even a possibility of being true.
My experiences with Coach Sandusky are memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I can honestly say that Coach Sandusky was always fun to be around and genuinely cared about us as people. He always made it a point to help guide us in the direction of being better.
"
LaVar brings up a great point—we don’t know if these accusations are true or not. All that we know is the investigation that came out from the grand jury on Saturday.
From the grand jury’s findings, we know what the victims have said Coach Sandusky did to them. What was in that report is very hard to get through, from the disgusting acts described in the report.
For now, former players like Arrington, who played under the guidance of Sandusky, are in shock over the indictments against their former coach. Arrington is just one of many voices that you will hear in the coming days.
We will be hearing a lot of good and a lot of bad, but what we will hear the most is a lot of surprised former players who were recruited by Sandusky.
